Bauer NCHC Players of the Week for October 27-November 2

The NCHC announced Miami's Blake Coleman, St. Cloud State's Ethan Prow, Denver's Danton Heinen, and Omaha's Ryan Massa as this week's Bauer  NCHC players of the week for last weekend's games

Here is the league's press release on the three winners:

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Blake Coleman, Miami

Senior Forward

Plano, Texas

Coleman led Miami to a NCHC-opening split at No. 19 Minnesota Duluth, totaling four points in the series, including three goals, with a +2 rating. On Friday he scored a power play goal in the second period to tie the game 1-1, sparking a 3-2 comeback win, while posting a +1 rating in the contest. The Devils prospect also fired seven shots on goal in the win and totaled nine shots on goal in the series. In Saturday’s 4-3 loss, Coleman had a hand in all three of Miami’s goals with his three points tying a career high. He scored two goals and added an assist, tallying the first goal of the game before assisting on Miami’s second goal and scoring its third goal on a penalty shot to rally Miami from a 3-1 deficit and tie the game at 3-3. Coleman played a part in four of Miami’s six goals against the Bulldogs.

DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK

Ethan Prow, St. Cloud State

Junior Defenseman

Sauk Rapids, Minn.

Prow posted three points from the blue line to help St. Cloud State earn a weekend split with No. 1 Minnesota. In Friday’s 4-1 win, which handed the Gophers their first loss of the season, Prow dished out two assists and had a +1 rating. He set up the game-winning goal in the closing seconds of the first period and also picked up an assist on a SCSU power play goal in the second period. In Saturday’s 4-3 overtime loss, Prow scored his first goal of the year on the power play midway through the second period, which put SCSU up, 2-1. He blocked a shot in each game for two in the series and helped SCSU’s penalty kill go 5-for-6 on the weekend.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Danton Heinen, Denver

Freshman Forward

Langley, B.C.

Heinen continued his strong start to his rookie campaign, scoring a pair of goals to help Denver split with No. 5 Boston College. InFriday’s 2-1 loss to the Eagles, he put three shots on goal, but fired seven more shots on Saturday, giving him 10 shots on goal in the series. Of his seven shots, two found the back of the net as he scored both goals in Denver’s 2-1 overtime win Saturday for his first multi-goal game as a Pioneer. The Bruins prospect scored the first goal of the game seconds into the second period before tallying the game-winner with less than a minute to play in overtime to earn first star of the game honors. Heinen also posted a +2 rating inSaturday’s win and was +2 in the series with BC. This marks his second NCHC Rookie of the Week award this season.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Massa, Omaha

Senior Goaltender

Littleton, Colo.

Massa remained unbeaten in net on the season (4-0-1), backstopping Omaha to a tie and a win at No. 18 Cornell over the weekend. He gave up just two goals all weekend, including only one even strength, with one goal allowed in each game. Massa compiled a .968 save percentage in the series and a 0.96 goals-against average. On Friday he compiled 29 saves to lift the Mavericks to a 1-1 overtime tie with the lone goal allowed coming on a power play. The following night he stopped 32 of 33 shots in a 2-1 victory, while helping UNO kill all four Cornell power plays.  Massa finished the weekend with 61 saves while helping Omaha go 9-for-10 on the penalty kill in the series. His 1.38 GAA and .952 save percentage on the season both lead the NCHC and rank seventh nationally. Massa has now claimed NCHC Goaltender of the Week twice this season.

OTHER NOMINEES:

Offensive Player of the Week

Jonny Brodzinski, Jr., F, SCSU – Tallied three points in SCSU’s 4-1 win over No. 1 Minnesota Friday, scoring a power play goal and adding a pair of assists on two more power play goals, while putting eight shots on goal in the series.

Michael Parks, Sr., F, UND – Dished out a pair of assists in UND’s 3-2 overtime win over Air Force Saturday, setting up the game-tying goal in the closing seconds of regulation before assisting on the game-winner short-handed in the final seconds of overtime, while posting a +2 rating with four shots on goal.

Defenseman of the Week

Tucker Poolman, Fr., D, UND – In UND’s only game of the weekend, scored UND’s first goal to spark a rally and a 3-2 comeback win in overtime against Air Force, while blocking a shot, posting a +1 rating and helping kill all three AFA power plays.

Rookie of the Week

Tucker Poolman, Fr., D, UND – In UND’s only game of the weekend, scored UND’s first goal to spark a rally and a 3-2 comeback win in overtime against Air Force, while blocking a shot, posting a +1 rating and helping kill all three AFA power plays.

Goaltender of the Week

Charlie Lindgren, So., G, SCSU – Went 1-1 in net in a split with No. 1 Minnesota, posting a 2.48 GAA and a .925 save percentage in the series, stopping 31 shots each night, including in Friday’s 4-1 win while he helped force overtime in Saturday’s loss with several big saves.

Jay Williams, Jr., G, Miami – Was only in net Friday, stopping 26 shots to backstop Miami to a 3-2 win at No. 18 UMD, while giving up just one even strength goal and posting a .929 save percentage in the contest.
