Hockey East Weekend Schedule and Television Times

Obviously the marquee matchup of the weekend in Hockey East takes place Friday night when No. 4 Minnesota pays a visit to Boston College. The Gophers tend to play predominantly at home and haven't come east for a regular season game since 2005 when the school helped close out Boston University's Walter Brown Arena and open up the brand new agganis Arena.

Minnesota, dealing with injuries, has struggled, but Don Lucia's team was the preseason favorite to win the NCAA Championship and are still likely the best team in the nation this season when fully healthy. It will be a treat for BC fans Friday night and Northeastern fans Saturday night to see the Gophers come to Beantown.

Both games are part of the Big Ten/Hockey East Challenge, but sadly neither game is on television. The other two most intriguing games of the weekend will be Saturday's 4 p.m. clash between Boston University and ECAC Hockey preseason favorite Colgate and the only Hockey East game of the weekend, Boston College at Providence.

The BC-PC game will be shown locally on Cox Cable's Ocean State Network. The only other game involving Hockey East teams to be on television is a nonconference game between Vermont and Maine on Saturday night. The contest will be aired locally in Maine on WVII, WPME and WFVX. It will be broadcast nationally on Fox College Sports.
