Colorado College at Boston College: Line Combinations

Line combinations from Kelley Rink at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Mass. before No. 6 Boston College hosts Colorado College in its home opener on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- Tonight, the sixth-ranked Boston College Eagles take the ice to open their home schedule and first back-to-back weekend of the season. With Colorado College in to play the opposition at Kelley Rink, there is a bit of historical revenge for the Eagles.

Tonight marks the 19th all-time meeting between the Eagles and Tigers, but the last on Mar. 25, 2011 left BC with a sour taste in its mouth. Current St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz scored two goals and two assists to help the Tigers oust BC from the NCAA Tournament with a 8-4 win in the West Regional semifinal in St. Louis.

The Eagles have lost five of their last eight season openers, including a 5-2 decision at UMass Lowell on Oct. 10, but bounced back in the second game of the year in each case. That trend continued last Saturday night as three goals in the second period propelled BC to a 6-2 win at RIT. Junior defenseman Teddy Doherty contributed the aforementioned goal and a pair of assists and leads the offense with four points in the early going.

From BC SID Mark Majewski, here's a cool note: Tonight marks the first time in BC history the Eagles have played consecutive opponents with the nickname Tigers.

Colorado College was thumped by a combined 10-3 score in its opening NCHC games against No. 3 North Dakota last weekend and plays its road opener tonight. Freshman defenseman Teemu Kivihalme's two goals lead the team and his three points are tied for the team's best mark with junior forward Peter Maric whose three points are all assists.

Sophomore Tyler Marble, who earned both of the team's wins over Alabama-Huntsville two weekends ago, and freshman Detroit Red Wings draftee Chase Perry have split goaltending duties.
