Patrick Lee's goal with 9.9 seconds remaining in regulation did more than give UMass a 4-3 win against Michigan State.
The win gave Hockey East a 10-9 lead in the Big Ten/Hockey East Challenge. Running through November 9, the 20 game challenge, featuring 9 of the 12 Hockey East schools and every B1G school besides Wisconsin, is evenly split with 10 games being played at Hockey East rinks and 10 at Big Ten rinks.
Teams will earn two points for a win, one point for a tie and a bonus point for a road win.
Of the four games this weekend, all four teams involved won one and lost one. Michigan came back to defeat New Hampshire for the Wolverines' first win of the season a night after losing 5-1 to UNH. The Minutemen lost to Michigan State 5-3 on Friday.
