College Hockey on TV: TSN to broadcast 37 NCAA Hockey games

Canadians have more access to college hockey than ever before.

Tom Szczerbowski

College hockey hasn't normally been readily available in Canada outside the NCAA Tournament and even there it has been hit or miss. Occasionally regional games have been shared across the border. Others are on tape delay. Even last season's second national semifinal between Minnesota and North Dakota was aired on tape delay.

Canadians will have more access than ever before after Friday's announcement.

TSN and College Hockey, Inc. announced Friday that the Canadian broadcaster will show 37 games live on TSN2 and TSN3, including the Frozen Four. Many of these games are simulcasted with NBCSN or ESPNU/ESPNEWS broadcasts. Others come from regional broadcasts.

At the very least, Canadians will get a good mix of college hockey on TSN. Three of last year's Frozen Four teams will make an appearance as will Notre Dame, Penn State, UMass-Lowell, Ohio State and New Hampshire. Big name events like the Beanpot and Hockey East Tournament will be shown.

Plus Eichelmaina. Boston University makes at least 3 appearances on Canadian TV, which will give Edmonton, Calgary and the rest of Canada a first-person view of the projected top-2 2015 NHL Draft pick.
