In the second period of the championship game of the North Star College Cup, Minnesota's Ben Marshall was given a 5-minute major and game misconduct for a hit to the head of Minnesota-Duluth's Austin Farley. But replays caused many to question whether Marshall deserved such a severe penalty.

Farley stayed down on the ice for a considerable amount of time, before heading down the tunnel to the lockerroom and not returning before the end of the period(which was almost over).
