College Hockey Television Schedule January 24-25

There are plenty of options for college hockey fans. Both BTN and CBS Sports Net have doubleheaders Friday and NBCSN is showing both Notre Dame vs. Northeastern games.

USA TODAY Sports

This weekend is the weekend that college hockey fans have been looking forward to when it comes to games on TV. 17 games are on national or regional TV and that number doesn't include local broadcasts. BTN and CBS Sports Net have doubleheaders while FSN is showing all four games of the North Star College Cup.

It's a far cry from just a few years ago when there was maybe 3 games max available. We preview them all.

All times are Eastern.

Friday January 24

North Star College Cup (Friday and Saturday) -All Games on Fox Sports North (DirecTV 668/Dish 436)

Minnesota State (14-10-0, 12-6-0 WCHA) vs. Minnesota-Duluth (9-9-2, 5-6-1-0 NCHC) (Friday 5 p.m.)

Minnesota (17-2-3, 7-0-1-0 Big Ten) vs. St. Cloud State (12-4-4, 7-3-2-2 NCHC) (Friday 8 p.m.)

Losers of Friday's two games (Saturday 5 p.m.)

Championship (Saturday 8 p.m.)

The inaugural North Star College Cup runs this weekend at the Xcel Energy Center, which sees four Minnesota schools battle for in-state bragging rights. Once all in the WCHA, the five MN schools (Bemidji State is sitting out this year's edition) are spread across three conferences now.

For a preview, the folks at The Daily Gopher have one.

Michigan at Michigan State -Friday 6:30 p.m. BTN (DirecTV 610/Dish 439)

The Wolverines won the series opener 2-1 last night in Detroit, with Phil Di Giuseppe scoring the game winning goal. For a full preview, check out Chris Dilk's thoughts here.

RIT at Niagara -Friday 7:00 p.m. CBS Sports Net (DirecTV 221/Dish 158)

Northeastern at Notre Dame -Friday 7:00 p.m. NBCSN (DirecTV/Dish 159)

Ohio State at Wisconsin -Friday 9:00 p.m. BTN

For an in-depth preview, check out Bucky's Fifth Quarter.

North Dakota at Denver -Friday 9:30 p.m. CBS Sports Net

This might be the game of the weekend on TV (it's between this, Minnesota-St. Cloud State and Notre Dame-Northeastern) given the hatred both schools have for one another in the old WCHA and both teams playing well. North Dakota, 8-0-1 in its last 9 games, is without goalie Zane Gothbergand Denver is 8-2-4 since November 8.

This series in Denver also has potential to shake up the standings. The two teams are currently tied for second in the NCHC along with Nebraska-Omaha, and St. Cloud State (two points ahead) is playing a non-conference series this weekend.
