The Big Ten Conference announced Wednesday (January 22) that Penn State sophomore defenseman Mark Yanis has been suspended for one game.
Yanis was suspended after receiving a checking from behind penalty and game misconduct with 5:23 remaining in Penn State's 3-2 loss to Michigan State on January 18. While a game misconduct does not carry an automatic suspension, the conference decided to take additional action.
Yanis has three assists in 15 games for Penn State (4-14-1, 0-6-0 Big Ten). The Grosse Point Woods, Michigan native will be ineligible to play in the Nittany Lions' game Saturday (January 25) against Boston College at Pegula Arena.
