Looking around college hockey this weekend, there were some clear winners, and some teams that were dealt serious blows in their quest for glory come March and April.

Minnesota swept Ohio State, outdoors at the Hockey City Classic and then indoors on Hockey Day in Minnesota. The Golden Gophers are 7-0-1 in the Big 10 and in complete control of that conference race.

Similarly out east, Boston College has taken command in Hockey East. The Eagles defeated archrival Boston University, 6-4, before walloping Maine, 7-2, the next night. Jerry York's squad is six points in the clear of its nearest competitor.

Union and Quinnipiac, the top two teams in the ECAC standings, stepped out of conference on the weekend, but both now stand to receive number one seeds in the NCAA Tournament, if it started today. The Dutchmen impressively invaded the Whittemore center and came away with two 3-1 wins over New Hampshire.

Ferris State was swept by Minnesota State over a two-game WCHA series. The losses were the first two conference setbacks of the season for the Bulldogs.

Another loser was the aforementioned UNH Wildcats, dealt a sweep on home ice, but perhaps even more concerning were the serious injuries to star defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk and second line center Grayson Downing.
