North Andover, Mass. -- Merrimack College upset No. 5 Quinnipiac, 6-3, on Saturday night at Lawler Arena, but it was Quinnipiac freshman Sam Anas who scored a highlight reel goal for the ages. The Potomac, Md. native tipped the puck out of mid-air to himself before batting it into the net past Merrimack goaltender Rasmus Tirronen. What made the goal even more impressive was that Jordan Samuels-Thomas batted the puck to Anas off a shot from defenseman Devon Toews.
Anas, who played for the Youngstown Phantoms of the USHL last season, has 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points on the season. He leads NCAA rookies in both goal scoring and points and is second only to Northeastern's Mike Szmatula in assists.
