Western Michigan University defenseman Garrett Haar will miss the first semester of the 2013-14 college hockey season after being declared academically ineligible. The Huntington Beach, Calif. native scored three goals and added six helpers for nine points in 22 games played as a sophomore. He played in 36 games as a freshman tallying just one goal and seven assists.

The Washington Capitals selected Haar in the 2011 NHL Draft with the 207th overall pick, late in the seventh and final round. Haar was originally a Northeastern commit, but de-committed following a coaching change.
