Former Notre Dame recruit Kevin Labanc has signed with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). The Staten Island, NY native recently had his offer from Notre Dame revoked after his academics had fallen.
Labanc had grown up in the New Jersey Colonials and Rockets organizations before making the move to Ann Arbor, Mich. to play for the US National Development Program (USNDP).
The right shot leftwing is eligible for the 2014 NHL Draft. He was slated to arrive in South Bend for the 2014-15 campaign to play for Jeff Jackson's Fighting Irish team. Notre Dame is joining Hockey East this fall for its first season in that league after the CCHA folded.
