College Hockey Inc. announced the hosts of the next two season-opening Icebreaker Tournaments. After exploring a less traditional venue last year by hosting the event in Kansas City, the tournament will move to more traditional college hockey venues this year, when Minnesota hosts the event at Mariucci Arena, as well as over the next two years.
In 2014, the tournament will be hosted by Notre Dame on campus at their Compton Family Ice Arena. Also participating in the tournament will be Minnesota, Minnesota-Duluth, and RPI.
In 2015, the tournament will be hosted by Maine at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine. The 6500-seat arena is expected to undergo a $33 million renovation that will be completed prior to the event. The three other participants in the tournament have not been selected yet.
