Mariucci Arena has seen its share of MacNaughton and Broadmoor Trophies. On Friday, the Stanley Cup will make an appearance.

Former University of Minnesota defenseman Nick Leddy is being welcomed back to his alma matter in honor of his accomplishments this year with the Chicago Blackhawks. The public event will be held in the main lobby of Mariucci today (Friday July 12) from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Both Leddy and the Stanley Cup will be there.

(Again, this is open to the public if you want a chance to see the Stanley Cup in person.)

The Eden Prairie native, who spent the 2009-2010 season with the Gophers before signing a professional contract, scored 18 points (6 G-12 A) in 48 regular season games in his third NHL season. Leddy signed a two-year,$5.7 million contract earlier this month after winning the Cup with Chicago.
