The road to repeating begins early for Team USA.

USA Hockey announced on Thursday the 40 forwards and defensemen invited to the National Junior Evaluation Camp August 3-10. They will get a chance to make an impression on 2014 WJC head coach Don Lucia in Lake Placid, NY while playing exhibition games against Canada, Finland and Sweden.

The 2014 World Junior Hockey Championships take place December 26, 2013-January 5, 2014 in Malmo, Sweden.

Two players, Miami University forward Riley Barber (Washington Capitals draft pick) and Windsor (OHL) defenseman Patrick Sieloff (Calgary Flames draft pick) return from last year's WJC gold medal-winning Team USA. Notably missing from the list is teammate and consensus 2013 #1 draft pick Seth Jones, however, they are joined by eight other players who participated in last year's NJEC selection process.

The list for the under-20 tournament include 22 players who are eligible for the 2013 NHL Draft that takes place June 30. 11 of those played on Team USA's silver-medal winning U-18 team this year.

Five players, including four incoming freshmen - Brady Skjei (New York Rangers draft pick), Mike Brodzinski, Tommy Vannelli, Hudson Fasching and Taylor Cammarata - from Lucia's University of Minnesota will take part.

Goaltenders for the NJEC will be selected June 9-11 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Following the Lake Placid, there will be a pre-tournament camp from December 15-18 in Minneapolis.
