Jim Scherr Leaves NCHC Commissioner Job

The NCHC needs a new commissioner five months before play begins.

The National Collegiate Hockey Conference sent out a release today stating that commissioner Jim Scherr has officially accepted a position as COO of the inaugural European Games. Earlier this month, it had been reported that Scherr had been offered the position, though he hadn't officially accepted it.

Scherr's departure leaves the new conference searching for their second commissioner before they drop the puck for their first game. It also leaves them with just months to find a replacement before the league begins play in mid-October.
