Terminated Maine hockey coach Tim Whitehead has landed on his feet at the prep school level. The former bench boss of the Black Bears for 12 seasons has been named the new head hockey coach at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, NH.

Red Gendron has been offered the position of hockey coach at the University of Maine, according to multiple sources. The former Black Bears assistant was the top assistant at Yale this season when the Bulldogs won their first title in school history.

According to a report by Lee Goldberg of WCSH TV in Maine, former Black Bear player and current Dubuque Fighting Saints head coach Jim Montgomery has accepted the head coaching position at Denver University.

Statement from Maine's Interim Coach Bob Corkum
Maine interim head coach Bob Corkum released a statement today. Jim Montgomery, Scott Pellerin and Greg Cronin are reportedly other candidates for the opening. Tim Whitehead was fired earlier this week after 12 seasons at the helm.

Maine fires Tim Whitehead
The University of Maine has fired head coach Tim Whitehead after 12 seasons at the helm of the Hockey East school. The Black Bears made it to the NCAA Championship game in two of his first three seasons, but it was downhill from there.
