Yale senior forward Antoine Laganiere was considered a top NHL free agent target even prior to Yale's impressive run through the NCAA tournament, but helping lead Yale to their first ever national championship only helped raise the stock of the 6-4 215 lbs. power forward who scored 15 goals and 14 assists this year for the Bulldogs.
Laganiere was widely pursued by a number of NHL teams, including Montreal and Vancouver among many others, before finally deciding to sign with the Anaheim Ducks this afternoon, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. Details of the contract have yet to be announced. Laganiere could dress immediately for the Ducks, but because he is a free agent signing made after the trade deadline, he would not be eligible to participate in the playoffs with the Ducks.
