Yale has extended its lead to three goals here in the third period on goals from freshman Charles Orzetti and senior Andrew Miller. The Bulldogs are leading the tournament's number one overall seed, Quinnipiac, 3-0 with fewer than ten minutes to play in regulation.
Orzetti scored on his own rebound at the 3:35 mark. The Wyckoff, NJ native was streaking down the left side when his first shot was saved, but he banged in his own rebound through Hartzell's five-hole. The second period's goal scorer, Clinton Bourbonais, fed him the puck in the neutral zone.
Then, at the 9:06 mark, sophomore Kenny Agostino spotted senior captain Andrew Miller breaking past the Quinnipiac defense. Miller went in alone and buried one through Hartzell's legs for the three-goal cushion.
It has not been a good night for Hartzell, the Hobey Baker Hat Trick Finalist. The two goals in this period were through his five-hole and the second period strike was one he'd probably like to have back.
