According to a report by Lee Goldberg of WCSH TV in Maine, former Black Bear player and current Dubuque Fighting Saints head coach Jim Montgomery has accepted the head coaching position at Denver University.
Montgomery would replace George Gwozdecky who was fired after a successful run in Denver. Montgomery has led Dubuque to two very successful seasons after being an assistant coach with Notre Dame and RPI.
Montgomery was also considered a favorite to become the head coach at Maine once that school fired Tim Whitehead earlier in the week.
