Yale jumped out to a huge 2-0 lead over UMass-Lowell in the first Frozen Four semifinal at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh.
The Bulldogs got goals from Kenny Agostino on a tip(assists to Carson Cooper and Andrew Miller) at 12:55 of the first period, and a rebound goal from Antoine Laganiere with just 51.5 seconds left in the period.
Giving up two goals in a game, let alone a period is a rarity for UMass-Lowell. They haven't given up two goals in a game since their first Hockey East playoff game--a win against Maine--and hasn't trailed by two goals since a 3-0 loss to Providence in mid-March. The good news for UMass-Lowell is that they are the only team left in the field to have a winning record when giving up the first goal, and when trailing after the first period.
