UMass-Lowell maintains their 1-0 lead through forty minutes. Riley Wetmore's power play goal just 3:08 into the first period remains the only goal scored in the game.

Lowell freshman goaltender Connor Hellebuyck has made 21 saves while Providence freshman goaltender Jon Gillies has stopped 16 of 17 shots faced. The Friars are 0 for 7 on the power play while the River Hawks are 1 for 4.

In other scores around Hockey East, Boston University is up 1-0 over Northeastern after two periods. UMass-Amherst leads Merrimack 3-0 through forty minutes while Boston College is up 5-0 at Vermont through two. Maine and UNH skated to a 4-4 tie earlier in the day. If these reults hold up, top seed UMass-Lowell would host eighth seed Maine in the quarterfinals beginning on Thursday. Seventh seed Vermont would travel to second seed Boston College, sixth seed Merrimack would play at third seed Boston University and Providence would host New Hampshire in the four-five match-up. All series besides the Lowell series would begin on Friday.
