The Lineup: Boston University at Northeastern

Despite being eliminated from the Hockey East playoff chase last weekend in Maine, the Northeastern Huskies host their intracity rivals from Boston University for one final home game on Friday night at Matthews Arena.

BOSTON -- And then there were two...

I write, one final time this season, from historic Matthews Arena on the campus of Northeastern University where the host Huskies (9-19-4, 5-16-4 Hockey East) welcome their crosstown rivals, the 19th-ranked Boston University Terriers (16-15-2, 13-10-2 HE) for their third of four contests thus far, but the only meeting of the season on NU's home soil.

The Huskies have posted victories in the first two meetings between the clubs this season, including a 3-2 win in the first round of the 61st Annual Beanpot Tournament at TD Garden on Feb. 4. It also won at Agganis Arena, 6-5, on Jan. 18.

BU enters the weekend in fifth place in the league standings with 28 points, but is just two points shy of a third-place tie between Boston College and Providence. With last Saturday's 4-4 tie at Maine, the Huskies were eliminated from playoff contention for the second time in as many years under head coach Jim Madigan.

Terrier rookie and Needham native Danny O'Regan trails only NU's Kevin Roy for the league lead in rookie scoring with seven goals and 23 total points, while junior Matt Nieto leads the way with five goals and seven assists in 11 career games against Northeastern.

For the Huskies, senior captain Vinny Saponari needs just one more point over the next two games for 100 career points, while senior Chris Rawlings needs 95 saves to take over the all-time school record from Bruce Racine (3,557).
