NCHC releases their inaugural season schedule

The newly formed conference kicks things off October 18 with a doubleheader on CBS Sports Network.

Although the National Collegiate Hockey Conference is still six months away from playing their first league game, we now know when exactly that is.

The newly formed conference, consisting of six former WCHA schools along with Miami and Western Michigan from the CCHA, released their composite schedule Wednesday. League play kicks off October 18-19 with a national television doubleheader on CBS Sports Network. North Dakota-Miami begin play in Oxford, Ohio and is followed by UMD-Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

"I could not be more excited that our inaugural season is right in front of us," NCHC Commissioner Jim Scherr said in a release. "The 2013-14 schedule is tremendously competitive with an aggressive non-conference slate for all eight institutions. Getting our opening weekend games on national television is a fantastic way to kick off the season and put the great institutions of our conference on the national stage."

Each of the eight NCHC members will play 24 conference games. That leads to a postseason tournament where the 4 first round winners travel to the Target Center in Minneapolis March 21-22 for the inaugural conference championship.

The entire NCHC composite schedule can be found here.
