NU senior goaltender Chris Rawlings signs with Idaho Steelheads (ECHL)

The Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League have signed Northeastern senior goaltender Chris Rawlings.

Northeastern senior goaltender Chris Rawlings has signed with the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League. The North Delta, BC native was 8-14-1 with a 3.22 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. The big netminder had a propensity to allow soft goals, but he was playing in front of a young, inexperienced defense.

Many observers believe the Huskies coaching staff expected Rawlings to turn pro after last season. When he opted to return for his senior season, prized recruit Jon Gillies de-committed and eventually signed on with Providence College. Gillies went on to be named the Hockey East Rookie of the Year and was named to the All-Hockey East First Team.

The Steelheads are the ECHL affiliate of the Texas Stars (AHL) and Dallas Stars (NHL).
