The Michigan Wolverines have made the NCAA Tournament 22 years in a row. That streak was in serious jeopardy after an up and down season where goaltending was a huge issue for Red Berenson's team.
Michigan is now one win away from a 23rd consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Miami, 6-2, in the CCHA Semifinals. If the Wolverines defeat Notre Dame in the CCHA Finals Sunday afternoon at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Berenson's remarkable streak will continue.
After a scoreless second period, Michigan erupted for four straight goals to take a 4-0 lead. Andrew Copp scored twice before Luke Moffatt and A.J. Treais added a goal each. Alex Guptill added two goals in the third period for insurance.
Miami will be a one seed or two seed when the NCAA Tournament field is announced Sunday night.
