Notre Dame defeated Ohio State 3-1 in the first CCHA Semifinal of the day from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. The win almost certainly secures an NCAA Tournament berth for the Fighting Irish. The win moves Notre Dame up to sixth in the Pairwise Rankings. The loss ends Ohio State's season.
Junior forward T.J. Tynan led the offensive attack for the Irish. The Columbus Blue Jackets prospect scored the game-winning goal just 3:50 into the final frame. Tim Costello added an empty-netter to seal the deal. Ohio State goaltender Brady Hjelle was terrific in defeat.
