Following a goal and an assist Friday by Danny Kristo to lead North Dakota past Nebraska-Omaha 2-1, the Mavericks will have a chance to get a split when they play outdoors.Their game is the second of a Saturday doubleheader that features the Lincoln Stars and Omaha Lancers in a USHL contest.
The good news is if that the game is on TV if you are in Grand Forks or Omaha. Midco Sports Network will broadcast the game in North Dakota on Midcontinent Cable while people in the Omaha area can watch the game on Cox. The bad news is that the game unforunately won't be available nationally or to DirecTV and Dish subscribers.
It will be, however, available as a stream on America One Sports for $8.00.
Besides being the first outdoor college hockey game of 2013, Saturday's game has major WCHA implications. Both UND and Nebraska-Omaha are currently tied with Minnesota for second in the conference with 26 points; three points behind St. Cloud State.
North Dakota (15-8-6, 10-5-6 WCHA ) vs. Nebraska-Omaha (16-11-2, 12-7-2 WCHA)
Game Time: 6:35 p.m. CT, Saturday February 9 **(Please note this is a change)**
Location: TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska
TV Coverage: Midco Sports Network (North Dakota), Cox (Omaha), America One Sports (Internet)
Weather Forecast: 50 degrees, with a 15% chance of precipitation that increases as the evening goes on.
UPDATE (2:55 p.m. CT): The game time has been moved from 4:00 p.m. CT to 6:07 p.m. CT due to the ice conditions at TD Ameritrade Park. Currently the sun and temperatures in the 50s are wrecking havoc and the hope is that will stop once the sun goes down. As our own Chris Dilks reported yesterday, arena technicians believed the ice surface can survive in temperatures up to the 60s However, that hasn't stopped the game time from being pushed back.
UPDATE (5:25 p.m. CT): Once again the game time has been moved. Instead of starting at 6:07 p.m., Nebraska-Omaha and North Dakota will begin play at 6:35.
