Nic Kerdiles' night has had a bit of everything. That includes the unique hat trick of recording a goal, assist and getting his helmet stuck with Colorado College forward Jeff Collett.
The Wisconsin sophomore forward and 2012 Anaheim Ducks second round draft pick, who was named the Big Ten first star this week for his performance against Penn State, scored with 1.1 seconds remaining in the second period to put the Badgers ahead 2-1 and for good.
It capped a period which saw Kerdiles draw a couple penalties and turn the puck over to Tigers senior Alexander Krushelnyski for the lone CC goal. He also assisted on Michael Mersch's (Los Angeles Kings) 100th point in the third period.
None of it, however, matched up when Kerdiles and Jeff Collett got their helmets stuck together after a face-off in the Colorado College zone with 3:50 remaining in regulation. He was able to get his head out, leaving the red helmet stuck to Collett's black Tigers grill. It took a couple minutes to separate the two, which you can see above.
Wisconsin won 4-1 Fridayin a rematch of last year's WCHA Final Five championship. The two teams, now in different conference - NCHC for Colorado College and Big Ten for the Badgers - play again tomorrow night at Kohl Center.
