Providence Hangs on for Mayor's Cup Victory Over Brown

Providence won its second consecutive Mayor's Cup over Brown.

Providence, RI -- Jon Gillies stopped 32 shots to lead the Friars to a 3-2 victory over crosstown rival Brown on Saturday night at Schneider Arena. Derek Army scored the game-winner midway through the third period as the Friars won their second consecutive Mayor's Cup. Nick Saracino and Drew Brown also scored for Nate Leaman's team.

Matt Lorito and Matt Harlow scored goals for the Brown Bears as Brendan Whittet's team lost for the fourth straight game. Marco DeFilippo made 26 saves in the losing effort.
