Burlington, Vermont -- Stephen Johns broke the ice and Sam Herr scored the game-tying and game-winning goal as Notre Dame overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Vermont on Saturday afternoon at the Gutterson Field House. The win marked the first in Hockey East league play for Jeff Jackson's program.
Robert Polessello and Colin Markison scored first period goals for Vermont. UVM Freshman goaltender Michael Santaguida continued his strong play despite the losing effort.
Vermont will travel to Orono to face Maine for a pair of Hockey East games next weekend while Notre Dame will play host to Minnesota in a nonconference series in South Bend.
