Hockey East Suspends Northeastern Forward Cody Ferriero

Northeastern will be without the services of senior forward Cody Ferriero this weekend against Boston College.

Hockey East has suspended Northeastern senior forward Cody Ferriero for two games for a slashing incident in Saturday's game at St. Lawrence. The Huskies fell, 6-4, in that game to the Saints for their first lost of the season. Ferriero's younger brother Nathan, a freshman on the Northeastern team, was suspended for one game following a fighting major and game disqualification in his team's exhibition game against Dalhousie.

The San Jose Sharks selected Cody Ferriero in the fifth round of the 2010 NHL Draft. His older brother Benn, a Boston College alum, has played in 96 career NHL games with the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers. He currently plays for the Utica Comets, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.

Jim Madigan's Northeastern team faces a home-and-home series against Boston College this weekend. Cody Ferriero will be eligible to begin playing again when the Huskies take on UMass-Lowell on November 9.
