Newark, NJ - The defending national champion Yale University fell in its season opener Friday afternoon in the first game of the Liberty Invitational at the Prudential Center.

Brown scored three third period goals to pull the upset over Keith Allain's Bulldogs by a score of 4-1. Sophomore Mark Naciero tallied two goals and added a helper to pace the Bears. Matt Lorito, the fourth leading goal scorer in the country a year ago, didn't find the back of the net, but had two assists.

Senior goaltender Marco Del Filippo stopped 31 of 32 shots he faced for the victory. Freshman Alex Lyon made 27 saves while allowing three goals in his first collegiate start.

Princeton and Dartmouth meet in the nightcap. Brown faces Dartmouth tomorrow in the first game and Princeton and Yale will meet in the second game.
