Gophers Hockey: Christian Isackson makes Sportscenter (VIDEO)

The Minnesota sophomore's goal was the #10 highlight in the Sportscenter top ten Tuesday night.

Welcome to the Big Show Christian Isackson.

The University of Minnesota sophomore's spectacular sixth goal of the season against Notre Dame Tuesday ended up being chosen as the #10 play on ESPN's top ten Sportscenter plays. After receiving a pass from teammate A.J. Michaelson, Isackson found himself open in front of Fighting Irish goalie Steven Summerhays. A right-hand shot, he then faked to his forehand side and got Summerhays leaning in that direction. Finally the Buffalo Sabres draft pick brought the puck to his backhand and roofed the puck in before T.J. Tynan (Columbus Blue Jackets) could hit him.

Listen to the call by ESPN Sportscenter anchor Steve Levy above (s/t to C.J. Fogler), which features a shout-out to Minneapolis Star Tribune Wild beat writer Michael Russo.

In addition to Isackson's goal making the Top Ten, #1 Minnesota's 4-1 win over #2 Notre Dame also got the full highlight treatment for the midnight edition of Sportscenter. While it benefited from being one of two college hockey games on television Tuesday night, that doesn't happen for regular season college hockey games.
