Minnesota defeated Alaska-Anchorage for their first WCHA sweep this season. Sophomore Kyle Rau scored his first collegiate hat trick while Nate Schmidt added four assists to become the NCAA leader in points by a defensemen with 22.

The University of Minnesota sophomore scored three times against Alaska-Anchorage Saturday for his first collegiate hat trick. It was the first Gopher hat trick since November 2011 and Rau's first since he was a HS senior.
