Video: Tyler Currier's Controversial Major Penalty Leads to Minnesota Win

Video of Tyler Currier's controversial major penalty that helped lead Minnesota to a 4-3 win.

It was a wild finish at Mariucci on Friday evening, as the University of Minnesota scored two late power play goals by Nick Bjugstad and Ben Marshall to erase a 3-2 deficit and defeat Alaska-Anchorage 4-3. The two power play goals came as a result of a major penalty called on Alaska-Anchorage's Tyler Currier for checking from behind, a call that many, including UAA head coach Dave Shyiak did not agree with.

Courtesy of the great CJZero, here's a video of the hit, so that you can decide for yourself. Currier pretty clearly hits Gopher captain Zach Budish from behind, but Budish also turns at the very last second, leaving Currier with little to no time to pull up and avoid the hit. Instant reaction seems to lean more towards a two-minute minor penalty for boarding being called rather than the five minute major.
