Hjelle Shines Again for OSU in Friday Night Win

Brady Hjelle had a 31-save shutout in Ohio State's 1-0 Friday night win against Michigan State.

Ohio State's Ryan Dzingel scored with just 2:13 left in regulation, and that was all the offense Ohio State needed to pull out a 1-0 victory at Munn Arena in East Lansing against Michigan State tonight.

The CCHA's two top goalies statistically in Ohio State's Brady Hjelle and Michigan State's Jake Hildebrand put on a fantastic show. Hjelle made 31 saves in the shutout, Hildebrand made 32 saves, but also let in the game's only goal. For Hjelle, it continues his especially eye-popping run through CCHA conference play. The 31-save shutout brought his CCHA conference play numbers to a staggering 0.51 goals against average, and .981 save percentage.

Each team had a goal disallowed as well. A shot by Ohio State's Tanner Fritz was initially ruled a goal before replays showed that the puck hit a post, and then the underside of the crossbar before bouncing out. Michigan State had a goal disallowed when replays showed forward Matt Berry made contract with Hjelle before MSU was able to bat a puck into the net, disallowing the goal.
