Bowling Green Extends Bergeron

Bowling Green head coach Chris Bergeron received a two-year contract extension from the school today.

Bowling Green announced this morning that head hockey coach Chris Bergeron would be receiving a two-year contract extension that will keep him behind the bench for Bowling Green through the 2017-2018 season.

Bowling Green has posted last place finishes in the CCHA in Bergeron's first two seasons at the helm, but the Falcons have shown steady improvement in his time there, jumping from 10 wins in his first season, to 14 last season. He also led the Falcons on a remarkable playoff run last season that included road upsets over Northern Michigan and Ferris State, which Bowling Green their first trip to Joe Louis Arena in over a decade. The future looks bright as well, with both the media and the coaches projecting Bowling Green to start moving up the league's standings.

This contract extension serves as a vote of confidence for Bergeron from his athletic department, and should aid recruiting efforts, knowing that he will be behind the bench as Bowling Green makes their move to the new WCHA next season.
