Minnesota Lives Up to the Hype; Routes Michigan State 5-1

Number one Minnesota faced their first challenge of the season in an up-and-coming Michigan State team, and passed with flying colors. The Gophers scored three times in the first 14 minutes of the game to jump out to an early lead and cruise to a 5-1 victory over the Spartans at Mariucci Arena.

Five different players scored for the Gophers, with Nick Bjugstad and Zach Budish being to only players to register multiple points. Michael Shiborowski got the start in goal for Minnesota and made 25 saves. Michigan State broke up his shutout with just 4:01 left in the game.
