I hinted at more departures late last evening, and the first of those has already become official. Former Michigan recruit John Gibson has signed with the Kitchener Rangers.

Gibson is the second straight high-profile goaltending recruit to back out on a commitment to Michigan in as many years. Last year, the Wolverines lost highly-touted goalie Jack Campbell to the Windsor Spitfires.

That leaves the Wolverines with just fifth-year senior Shawn Hunwick returning, and nobody lined up behind him beyond that. Unless the Wolverines can find a very last-minute replacement, walk-on Adam Janecyk will likely back up Hunwick.
