The NHL held a media session this afternoon--at an Art Gallery!-- where a few top prospects were made available to the media in advance of the NHL Draft, which will take place tomorrow and conclude on Saturday. The event was attended almost exclusively by Canadian media, a few beat writers, and one lowly blogger with not much to do on a Thursday afternoon and about 10 minutes of battery life on his digital camera.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is the potential number one overall pick in tomorrow's draft. Here, he discusses the nerves leading up to the draft.
Also in the running for one of the top couple of picks is Kitchener Rangers forward Gabriel Landeskog. Landeskog was the first foreign-born captain of the Kitchener Rangers. In this video, Landeskog discusses the honor of being named captain, as well as how he has drawn comparisons to Peter Forsberg.
The top-rated goalie is American John Gibson, who played his hockey at the NTDP. Gibson was asked what makes that program so special, as well as the strengths of his game.
It's a quiet year for Minnesotans in the draft, but one of the top local players is Seth Ambroz of New Prague. In this video, Ambroz runs down his strengths and the areas that he needs to work on.
