USHL Draft Recap

The USHL held their Entry Draft on Monday. You can view the results here.

Junior experience was the story of the day, with five first rounds picks, and three early second round picks having played in the NAHL last season. In addition, Dan Carlson and Dakota Mermis of the NTDP, meaning they have pretty extensive USHL experience, were selected in the first round.

The first overall pick was Brian Christie, a big forward from Pennsylvania that was a point-per-game with the Topeka Roadrunners of the NAHL last season. The early rounds of the draft can sometimes also be a clue to some late-blooming NHL Draft prospects. Burnsville's Eddie Wittchow was the fourth overall pick. Carlson also has potential to be taken in the later rounds of the draft.
