Denver's Donovan Goes Pro

Denver defenseman Matt Donovan, who would have been a junior next season, has given up his final two years of eligibility to sign an entry level pro contract with the New York Islanders.

This move isn't much of a surprise because Donovan has been one of the best defensemen in the WCHA the past two years and didn't have much more to prove at the college level. There's been some question if Donovan has the high-end ability to make it as a top NHL defenseman, but he should develop into a steady reliable player for the Islanders.
