Notre Dame junior defenseman Teddy Ruth has signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets. He never put up big numbers statistically, but was one of the more solid defensive defensemen in the CCHA the last three years. He'll likely play in the AHL next year.
Ruth's departure likely paves the way for recruit Kevin Lind to join the Irish next season, though that doesn't seem like the insurance policy that it once was, as Lind has continued to slide down the draft rankings all year. It also makes Notre Dame that much younger on defense, where they could play as many as four freshman D per night.
