There's rumors out there that North Dakota recruit Matt White won't be playing hockey this year and could give up hockey altogether. This year would have been White's draft year, so it's a big one to miss.

Colorado College assistant Mike Guentzel will take over the Des Moines Bucanneers of the USHL. Guenzel's stay at CC was always going to be fairly temporary. Taking the Des Moines job isn't necessarily a step up, but it does move him much closer to his home in Minnesota.

I get linked at a lot of different places, but the one I think I'm proudest of is being voted the SB Nation blog least likely to know something about Maryland football. For what it's worth, here is my Maryland preview:

1. Annapolis is the capital

2. Crab cakes

3. John Waters

4. Their state flag is exceedingly difficult to replicate for a 4th grade project.

This got nailed down a while ago, but here is the official NTDP U18 roster. Derek Forbort, Andy Iles, Brandon Saad, and Bill Arnold are the new additions, which are four really great players to add. The U17 roster comes out later this week.

Notre Dame's Riley Sheahan talks about the 14-hour days he's been putting in at Notre Dame to get ready for his freshman season. No talk of NCAA violations; probably because the article wasn't written by a colossal douchebag.

Tate Maris is North Dakota's new third-string goalie. Nice to see a player make a D-1 team out of the NORPAC league.

Ontario '93 born forward Lucas Lessio left Niagara Ice Dogs camp and signed with St. Mike's of the OPJHL, preserving his college eligibility. He looks to be leaning heavily towards Michigan.

The big problem there is that Lessio was a first round pick in last spring's OHL Draft. If Niagara really can't sign him, they can choose to cut him loose and take a compensatory pick, which would put Lessio back into the OHL Draft where anybody else could get his rights. Or Niagara could trade his rights at the trade deadline for a box of old shoes. Either scenario ends with Lessio having a change of heart, becoming a quarter-millionaire, and wearing a London Knights or Windsor Spitfires uniform in the future.
