Air Force upset Michigan in the first game of the NCAA tournament by a score of 2-0.
It was pretty much your textbook upset. Michigan controlled play and outshot and outchanced Air Force by a wide margin, but Air Force was opportunistic with the chances that they got and the Falcons got great goaltending from Andrew Volkening. Michigan had some quality chances, but just seemed snakebit all day.
It's a great win for Air Force's program. They'll take on the winner of Yale and Vermont for the opportunity to go to the Frozen Four. If they can put together another game like they did today, that may be a reality for the Falcons.
