Lerg Closes In On History

It's been a disappointing year for Michigan State, but one area where you can't question their talent and effort is in goal with Jeff Lerg. Lerg has stopped at least 29 shots in Michigan State's last 16 games. And now, Lerg is closing in on an impressive career honor after four years of excellent play at Michigan State.

Lerg needs just 18 saves--he may reach that in the first period against Notre Dame next weekend--to surpass Western Michigan's Glenn Healy as the CCHA's all-time saves leader. Healy, like Lerg, was a small goalie, measuring just 5'10". Healy went to have a very nice NHL career. It's nice to see Lerg at least earn something in his senior year to close a great career that will leave him among the very best goaltenders to ever play in the CCHA.
