Lawmakers at Minnesota's State Capital were busy yelling at each other well into the night and couldn't get the money for a new DECC approved.
In case you were curious, here's some stuff that did get approved:
Minors need parental consent to get body-piercing
Carnies need at least $2 million in insurance to operate rides
Throwing out flourescent lightbulbs is illegal
My question is: if Duluth already passed a tax to raise roughly $40 million for a new arena, why not just build an arena with that money? This project has been delayed quite a bit, which is probably costing Duluth a good deal of money, waiting for the state's roughly $30 million contribution. I think it's come to the point where Duluth can't trust anyone in St. Paul to get them that money.
