Going Overseas

Fellow blogger/real journalist Kyle Whitney, wrote a piece for the Northern Michigan student newspaper on Northern Michigan's attempt to recruit in Europe.

The theory for Northern Michigan is that they can go over to Europe and be the only ones actively recruiting over there, as opposed to going to a junior league like the USHL, where they are competing with every other team, including teams that have a much higher-profile than NMU.

Of course the one problem is that it's a lot more expensive to fly to Stockholm as opposed to a place like Omaha or Vancouver. But if these European players can be very successful for Northern Michigan, perhaps more teams will start footing the cost to recruit in Europe.
