Recruiting Rumors

Here's a few random notes from the recruiting world...

The Michigan Rivals board updated their always informative Recruiting Hotboard. There's a couple notable items on there:

It looks like Michigan is done recruiting for the 2007 class. It was mentioned that they were interested in Riley Nash, but I'm guessing they don't have a high enough percentage of scholarship to offer him to make it worth his while.

Ryan Grimshaw was added to the list of potential 2008 recruits. He's playing for the U17 team right now, and has been spotted at a couple Michigan games(and apparently his family reads this site, so that's, like, cool).

Ben Hughes of Shattuck and David Valek of Honeybaked were added as 2009 guys. Both guys have a shot at making the NTDP next season.

And in the way-too-early-category, Bryan Rust and Rocco Grimaldi were added to the 2010 list. Rust is the brother of Michigan recruit Matt Rust. Grimaldi is interesting since he's a 1993 birthdate. Though it is important to remember that kids like Matt Rust and Carter Camper, and Gabe Gauthier were all thought of in the same light when they were at a similar age and never panned out as superstars(Gauthier was a great college player, but never ended up being the superstar some people thought he would be).

Also of interest in Michigan recruiting, Bret Osburn of Michigan's Scout.com site reported on Honeybaked's '91 team, including Michigan commit Chris Brown, and Kenny Ryan. Probably the most interesting bit of information is that Ryan is deciding between Michigan, Notre Dame, and Boston College, with BC entering the picture due to Ryan's connection with former Eagle Doug Brown. Also, he thought Cam Fowler was pretty good. Go figure.

Camrose(AJHL) forward Eric Kroshus has narrowed down his choice in colleges to four Ivy League schools in Harvard, Cornell, Princeton, and Dartmouth.

Mark Silverman, a forward for Victory Honda's Midget Major team has received some interest from Yale.

Moorhead HS defenseman Jeff Foss visited Colorado College and is also reportedly considering Maine, BU, and Minnesota-Duluth.

NHL's Central Scouting finally made it up to Hermantown, Minnesota to see forward Drew Leblanc, and they rated him as an 'A' player for next year's draft.
